Feel the rhythm, the melody, and the unmistakable pulse of the Caribbean at our Pan Jamboree, a vibrant showcase of the region’s rich musical heritage through the mesmerizing sounds of the steel pan.

Originating in Trinidad & Tobago in the 1930s and 40s, the steel pan stands as the world’s only musical instrument invented in the 20th century — a true symbol of creativity, resilience, and cultural pride. Its melodic tones have long been the soul of Caribbean celebrations, echoing through generations.

Join us as Miami Carnival proudly presents the Annual Pan Jamboree on Friday, October 6th, 2025, at Central Broward Park from 5 PM to 10 PM.

This fan-favorite event brings together music lovers of all ages — from lifelong “pan heads” to the new generation of Caribbean-Americans — for an evening filled with rhythm, melody, and unity. The night celebrates not only the music but the cultural story it tells: one of community, joy, and a shared Caribbean identity.

Historically, steel bands have been a cornerstone of Carnival celebrations, with groups traveling from as far as Orlando and New York to take part in South Florida’s festivities. The Miami Broward One Carnival Host Committee remains deeply committed to preserving this treasured art form as a vital part of the Miami Carnival experience.

In years past, when the Pan night featured an open “Panorama Competition,” judges hailed from Trinidad & Tobago — the birthplace of the steel pan — as well as from South Florida and across the Caribbean. Many of these expert judges were accomplished pan players themselves, deeply versed in the art’s history and the rigorous criteria of arrangement, performance, tone, and rhythm.

Come experience the heartbeat of the islands. Let the steel pan transport you — to the streets of Port of Spain, to the rhythm of the Caribbean, and into the joy of Miami Carnival.

OUR PAST STEEL BAND ORCHESTRAS

Pan Jamboree showcases the Caribbean’s rich musical heritage through melodic steel band performances. The melodic sound of the steel pan has always been a staple element in Caribbean culture. In celebration of the musical tradition, Miami Broward One Carnival will hold its annual Pan Jamboree on Friday, October 10th at Central Broward Park, from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Pan Jamboree continues to be a music lover’s favorite, bringing both old heads and the younger Caribbean-American pan-lovers together for an evening of melodic and rhythmic music. The steel pan holds great historical significance in the world of music, as it is the only new instrument invented in the 20th Century. Although a part of the Carnival experience for many years, the first Pan Jamboree was not held in Trinidad & Tobago until August 1963. In Miami, steel bands were always a part of Carnival, where bands traveled from Orlando, Atlanta, and even from New York to participate in South Florida’s Carnival festivities. The host committee is committed to preserving this rich Caribbean tradition within the blueprint of Miami Carnival.

In 2025, come out enjoy the sounds from Lauderhill Steel Orchestra; Matanzas Blue Steel; New Generation Steel Orchestra (Orlando Branches Steel); special guest band from Trinida & Tobago – Newtown Playboys Steel Orchestra; and from USVI, the St. Thomas (USVI) All-Stars Steel Orchestra.
